In 2005 SONGS FROM AN UNMADE BED opened Off-Broadway to critical acclaim at New York Theatre Workshop. It has since received productions in Los Angeles and elsewhere.
This musical for one actor has smart, evocative lyrics by Mark Campbell and music by 18 composers. It’s a modern song-cycle, sung in pajamas, by a gay urban romantic.
In the song "HE PLAYS THE CELLO" (music and arrangement by Jeffrey Stock), our protagonist laments the earnest but inept cello-playing of his partner. Sung here by Michael Winther, who originated the role, it’s a comic turn that becomes a paean to loving tolerance
